Music is a word that really deserves the meaning “universal”. That’s why it’s a pleasant surprise to see someone like Mica on the scene. Ready to take her music abilities to the highest level, this determined young woman has been singing since the tender age of four and performing since the age of eight. Being from Chicago’s South Side, through determination she was able to stay focused on her goals. She is blessed with a mother who desires to see Mica doing her best and her grandmother who has passed on to her a love for music. Mica is well supported in her pursuit to becoming a superstar performer.
Mica is a regular on Chicago’s local scene, performing regularly at various events. She perfects her craft with the likes of Do or Die, R. Kelly, 112, Public Announcement, Jill Scott, Carl Thomas, Donell Jones, Busta Rhymes and many more. Encouraged and young, Mica grows a little more as an artist daily. Mica has also been featured with Kanye West, Mixtape, Kan the Louis Vuitten Don and her longtime friend Mr. GLC (for the Song Defense).
One of Mica’s proudest accomplishments was winning 1st place as an emerging artist in the Salem Orb-e 2000 national contest held in New York City. |
A recent success was winning a Chicago R&B soul award for best Chicago R&B Power Hour Artist. She is also the Vice President of Now OR Neva entertainment company.
Mica is featured on Chi-Towns own Chi Blizz’s highly anticipated Chicago’s Way mix tape on the hit single “So Real”. Also, she with her good friend, Benda, has been featured on the Legit Ballin label’s long awaited collaboration album with her good friend, Benda.
Mica is mostly know for her banging remix of Pharrell’s song Frontin, which received major airplay on radio stations like WGCI, Power 92.3, and WKKC. She has also had the privilege of working with one of her favorite singers, Mrs. COKO, former lead singer for the hit smash group trio SWV. The experience taught Mica multiple things about the music industry including how to make a place for herself. Mrs. COKO, Harold Rose and Ms. Linda Johnson, Mica’s vocal coach, are her mentors who she’s gained industry knowledge and wisdom from.
It’s certain that Mica is ready and willing to prove that real singers are out there. Her success is attributed to her individuality, creativity and true talent which are still needed within the music industry.
